There has been a huge resurgence in K-pop in Asia. One popular band is Girl's Generation:
Girl's Generation has 9 singers. Like other Korean K-pop girl bands, they are attractive and are very good at dancing. Their members are Yuri, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Sunny, Sooyoung, Yoona, Jessica, and Tiffany.
Some of their popular songs are The Boys, Oh, Genie, and Gee etc. They are also known by the name SNSD. Their first single was "Into the New World" in 2007 and they also released their first album "Sonyeo Sidae" at the same time.
However, their debut album was not very successful. It would be their second album, "Gee", that was released in 2009, that would make them famous. They soon began tours not only in Korea, but across Asia.
.: Japan
Japan arguably had the most popular pop scene in Asia at one point. However, Japan has recently been overtaken by Korea. Nevertheless, there are still some memorable singers and bands from Japan.
Two singers that have been popular in Japan are Chage and Aska.
Chage and Aska have written so many songs and their careers go quite a far back. Aska has a really nice voice and can hit so many tones. I think he is definitely one of Japan's voices.
Chage and Aska was formed in the late '70s as both were from the Fukuoka prefecture and were both singer and songwriters. In 1979, Aska convinced Chage to participate in the Yamaha Popular Song Festival and they won with the song "Hitori Saki," which also became their debut single.
Their first album in 2980 was Kaze Mai. Their single "Banri No Kawa" was a big hit, and Chage and Aska continued to gain in popularity across Japan and in Asia.
